We are pausing our Museum Family Backpacks through spring 2017 while we remodel our Marcia and John Price Museum Building and reinstall our permanent galleries. You can still explore art in the environment with our Spiral Jetty backpack!
We have partnered with the Salt Lake City Public Library to make our Spiral Jetty backpack available for families to check out for FREE at the Children's desk downtown. Enjoy a family outing to Spiral Jetty and learn about the history, art, and science around this amazing artwork. Fun activities for the whole family include tools such as a microscope, binoculars, compass, thermometer, and maps to guide your interaction with the landscape and science of Great Salt Lake. A sketchbook and worksheets can generate insight to the artwork and the artist, Robert Smithson. Basalt rocks (made of foam) are included so you can try your hand at making a little jetty.
We appreciate your feedback on the Spiral Jetty backpack. Please share your family's Spiral Jetty adventure at #spiraljettybackpack or @utahmuseumoffinearts.
