U of U Students and Faculty

The Marcia and John Price Museum Building is temporarily closed for remodeling and reinstallation, reopening in 2017.

Many free family, adult, and K–12 programs continue on the University campus, at Salt Lake City Public Library branches, and in classrooms statewide, including our popular Third Saturday for FamiliespARTners, ARTLandish: Land art, Landscape, and the Environment, and ACME (Art. UMFA Wikipedia Edit-a-thon
Thursday, September 15 | 11 am2 pm, 3:305 pm | FREE
J. Willard Marriott Library, Computer Lab Room 1735
Join the Utah Museum of Fine Arts (UMFA) for a Wikipedia Edit-a-thon! Help us create and expand Wikipedia pages for artists and artworks in the UMFA's collection. Learn about the objects in your university art museum and the history of art in Utah—and help show the world that, when it comes to great art, this is the place.

You don't need to be an expert to join the fun. We'll provide resources and training, from creating an account to citing sources to navigating Wikipedia culture. We'll also provide pizza and snacks. Desktop computers will be available, but feel free to bring your laptop.

**If there are services we can provide that will make it easier for you to participate, please contact iris.moulton@umfa.utah.edu

Hosted by the UMFA Students' Museum Advisory Council (SMAC) and the Katherine W. Dumke Fine Arts & Architecture Library.

Join the UMFA for a fun day of art and science at Spiral Jettythe internationally renowned work of Land art located on Rozel Point in Great Salt Lake. It's a great opportunity for Utahns who've never seen the work to experience Spiral Jetty with fellow art lovers.

Kelly Kivland, associate curator at Dia Art Foundation-the New York-based institution that owns and stewards Spiral Jetty, and Whitney Tassie, UMFA curator of modern and contemporary art, will give short talks about the art historical significance of the work.

Educators from the UMFA and the Great Salt Lake Institute at Westminster College will help visitors explore the art and science of the artwork and the lake with hands-on art-making activities and demonstrations, including making watercolors with salt, Spirograph drawings, sketching, and a writing activity.

Graduate students from the University of Utah School of Music will perform chamber music for voice and guitar.
