Marketing and Communications Intern

The Utah Museum of Fine Arts (UMFA) seeks a marketing and communications intern to coordinate the UMFA’s presence at community festivals, perform audience research, and distribute print information about Museum exhibitions and programs. The successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal communications skills; the ability to work independently but also collaboratively with staff members and volunteers; and be highly organized, self-motivated, reliable, and resourceful. 

Responsibilities: 

Exhibition and Event Promotions

  • Distributing print promotional materials on campus and around Salt Lake City
  • Representing the UMFA at tabling events
  • Managing press clippings

Festival Coordination

  • Researching and recommending festivals to participate in
  • Planning and prioritizing method and level of participation
  • Scheduling staff and volunteers
  • Day-of implementation 
  • Detailed reporting
  • Other related duties


Audience Research

  • Planning, administering, and/or analyzing program, exhibition, and visitor experience evaluations through surveys and interviews
  • Entering and compiling data from surveys and interviews into SurveyMonkey™
  • Using appropriate tools effectively such as prompt cards, iPads, and SurveyMonkey™
  • Communicating any oral feedback received from visitors that could help enhance the visitor experience and making any suggestions for improvements to the data collection process

Qualifications
Working toward a bachelor’s degree in anthropology, history, psychology, education, marketing, communications, museum education, museum studies, visual art, or a related field. Experience in event or festivals coordination, customer service, and audience research and evaluation a plus.
