Protection Services
Protection Services is responsible for protecting the art and delivering excellent customer service while making sure all policies and procedures are followed by visitors, staff, volunteers, and colleagues.
Café Barista
Candidates for this position will be primarily assigned to the front of house, but will be expected to demonstrate knowledge of kitchen duties, food preparation, recipes, etc. The UMFA Café Barista Staff is responsible for delivering excellent customer service and expertly prepared café food and beverages. They must maintain a high level of cleanliness and demonstrate current Museum knowledge.
Cafe Kitchen Staff
Candidates for this position will be primarily assigned to kitchen duties, but will also be expected to learn and demonstrate knowledge of Barista duties. This is a fast-paced work environment, combining intense periods of food service and heavy cleaning duties, with limited customer interaction. Kitchen staff will be expected to perform both opening and closing duties, with studious concern for procedural standards in cleanliness, food safety, quality, presentation and cooperation with others.
UMFA Tour Coordinator
This position provides a wonderful opportunity for those interested in gaining experience in both museum and non-profit work. The job involves working alongside the UMFA’s Co-Directors of Learning and Engagement and our dedicated volunteers while assisting in organizing and facilitating our touring calendar. Moreover, this position provides opportunities to meaningfully and creatively contribute to a wide variety of programs managed by the Learning and Engagement team. We kindly request responses from candidates interested in a commitment of one year or more.
Visitor Services Specialist
A position as a Museum Visitor Services Specialist is a great opportunity for those looking to further their experience in customer service, communications, and community outreach as well as for those looking to become more familiar and involved with the museum world in general. Our Visitors Service Representatives are responsible for delivering excellent customer service while welcoming guests to the Museum, maintaining knowledge of exhibitions, events, Museum departments, processing transactions accurately, guiding visitors in the right direction as questions arise, and properly facilitating our public programs.

Our cadre of experienced UMFA volunteers—people of various ages with diverse backgrounds—is one of our most valuable resources, assisting with nearly every aspect of Museum operations. Volunteer opportunities evolve with the Museum’s changing needs and include support of our education, family, and public programs. Our dedicated docents and volunteers provide a unique experience for visitors.
