Open Studio: Tape Paintings

Looking for a place to meet fellow artists and learn new skills in Salt Lake City? Open studio workshops at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts invite you to explore your artistic potential and the galleries! Feel free to bring your own sketchbook or current project to work on among new friends. 

The UMFA is home to a broad collection contemporary art including Hard-edge paintings by artists Gene Davis and Ilya Bolotowsky. These artists are known for their abstract works that emphasize color and pattern.

In this workshop, you’ll explore the examples of Hard-edge painting in the UMFA galleries, then use tape and acrylic paint on canvas to try this technique yourself!  

All materials are provided. This workshop is for adults 18+. All levels of experience are welcome. RSVP is encouraged but not required.
