Guests enjoy a touch tour at the UMFA

We are partnering with the Natural History Museum of Utah for a sensory-friendly event on Wednesday, November 6, from 5-8 PM.

The Museum will have a sensory-modified environment including:

  • Dimmed lights
  • Quiet spaces
  • Some video installations will be turned off

The UMFA is an ADA-accessible building.

The UMFA is committed to welcoming everyone. We believe that access for people of all abilities, ages, resources and backgrounds helps inspire critical dialogue and deepens the level of engagement for all visitors. We seek to establish a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment that ensures the widest range of people will enjoy, learn from, and be inspired by the UMFA exhibitions and programs.

Wheelchairs and strollers

All galleries, The Museum Store, Museum Café, and the Katherine W. and Ezekiel R. Dumke Jr. Auditorium are wheelchair and stroller accessible. There are two public elevators in the Museum—one located in the lobby and another in the southeast corner of the Museum.

A wheelchair is available for use during your visit, inquire at the welcome desk.

  • Wall labels and exhibition information are available in large type throughout the galleries. Look for the binders near the entrance to each gallery.
  • The UMFA is rolling out QR codes that lead visitors to accessible label web page where visitors can use a phone's screen reader to access a gallery's labels and wall text. Look for QR codes in the intro wall text and/or on each artwork's label. This feature is currently in all temporary exhibitions and we are working on implementing it in our permanent galleries.
