Third Saturday for Families: Weaving with Raffia

Saturday, August 17 | 1-4 pm | Free

The UMFA’s Arts of the Pacific collection is filled with beautiful art created from natural materials. Many objects have expertly woven grasses and raffia as elements in their complex designs. At this Third Saturday you will weave your own artwork from natural grasses. You can even take your mini loom home to create more woven works of art. 

Special guest Freda Sauni will be in our adjacent ACME Lab demonstrating her fine mat weaving (ʻie tōga).
