As Lynch himself recalls memories stretching from his childhood to his early successes as a filmmaker, the audience gains a subtle understanding of the impressionable characters and experiences that shaped his work. His simple definition of the “art of life”? “You drink coffee, you smoke cigarettes, and you paint, and that’s it.”
