Modern and Contemporary Art Curatorial Intern

The UMFA seeks an exceptional undergraduate or graduate student to participate in and contribute to the museum's modern and contemporary curatorial initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Gather comprehensive artist research
  • Provide support for exhibition development and ongoing curatorial projects
  • Department administrative duties
  • Research the permanent collection
  • Write gallery labels, organize files and libraries
  • Prepare correspondence, presentations, and checklists

Qualifications

  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated
  • Interest in modern and contemporary art and artists
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Competence in general research and office duties
  • Writing samples are required for all applicants

Suggested Skills

  • Critical thinking
  • Familiarity with (museum) databases

Expected Learning Outcomes
The intern will gain a general understanding of how a contemporary curator works within a university museum context.
