Armando Solórzano Professor at the University of Utah and Author of Come Quickly for We Are Waiting for You: The Day of the Dead in Zapotlan

As part of the Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Celebration, guest lecturer Armando Solórzano will discuss his new book on the tradition, cultural religiosity, and anthropological aspects of Dia de los Muertos, titled Come Quickly for We Are Waiting for You: The Day of the Dead in Zapotlan (University of Guadalajara Press, 2018). Solórzano is an associate professor of ethnic studies and family and consumer studies at the University of Utah. The Dia de los Muertos Celebration at UMFA is held in partnership with Artes de México en Utah. The event celebrates the loan of renowned Mexican artist Diego Rivera’s painting La ofrenda, which depicts elements from the traditional Dia de los Muertos altar. The painting is on loan from Art Bridges, a new collection-sharing program that also provided support for this program.
