Free Admission Options
Free Days
Admission is free for everyone on the first Wednesday and third Saturday of the month, thanks to support from Salt Lake County Zoo, Arts and Parks (ZAP) and the Utah Division of Arts and Museums/National Endowment for the Arts. Free access may vary for special ticketed exhibitions.
Museums for All
The UMFA supports Museums for All with free admission for those in our community who receive food assistance. Present a Utah Horizon, EBT (Electronic Benefit Transfer), or WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) card and valid photo ID to receive free admission for up to four visitors.
Blue Star Museums
The UMFA is a Blue Star Museum, offering free admission to active-duty military personnel and their families (up to 6 visitors) with military ID.
Museums on Us
The Bank of America Museums on Us program offers free general admission during the first full weekend (Saturday and Sunday) of every month to Bank of America, Merrill, and Bank of America Private Bank credit and debit cardholders. To redeem this offer Cardholder must present their credit or debit card—physical or electronic/digital—at the UMFA welcome desk to receive one free general admission to the UMFA.
How to Get Here
The Museum is located in the Marcia and John Price Museum Building at 410 Campus Center Drive on the University of Utah campus, between Rice-Eccles Stadium and the Jon M. Huntsman Center.
TRAX
The UMFA is easily accessed by TRAX. We are located just a five-minute walk northwest of the University South Campus stop on the University (Red) line. Plan your trip here.
Bus
The UMFA is easily accessed by the following UTA bus routes: 9, 17, 213, 223, 228, 313, 354, 455, and 473. Plan your trip here.
Driving
From the south: Travel north on I-15 and take the 600 South exit heading east. Turn north (left) on State Street and then east (right) onto 400 South. Head east on 400 South (which becomes 500 South) to the light at Campus Center Drive (at 1580 East). Turn north (left) on Campus Center Drive, veering right at the round-about onto South Campus Drive. Turn left at the next light on to 1725 East, the Museum will be on your left.
From the north: Travel south on I-15 and take the 400 South exit heading east. Head east on 400 South (which becomes 500 South) to the light at Campus Center Drive (at 1580 East). Turn north (left) on Campus Center Drive, veering right at the round-about onto South Campus Drive. Turn left at the next light on to 1725 East, the Museum will be on your left.
From the east or the west: Travel on I-80 to Foothill Drive. Take Foothill Drive north to Mario Capecchi Drive. Turn right on Mario Capecchi Drive and left onto South Campus Drive. Turn right onto 1725 East, the Museum will be on your left.
Parking
Free and pay parking is available for weekday visits. Campus parking is free on weekends, except in reserved stalls where indicated. Note: Parking may be limited on Saturdays during the fall semester when the University of Utah hosts football games in nearby Rice-Eccles Stadium. Visitors are encouraged to use public transit on game days.
Free Visitor Stalls
Free parking is available in the lot east of the Museum indicated with a UMFA sign. Free parking is only available in the stalls labeled "UMFA Visitor Parking." You must register your license plate number at the welcome desk to avoid a parking citation. If all UMFA stalls are occupied you can park in the pay lot to the north.
Pay Lot
A University of Utah pay lot is available just north of the UMFA visitor lot on Campus Center Drive. Continue as the road curves to the east (the Business Loop) and look for the visitor pay lot on your right—be sure to prepay at the kiosk.
Free Parking for Evening Events
The UMFA often hosts programs on Wednesday nights, when the Museum is open until 8 pm, and occasionally on other evenings. On those nights, museum parking is free after 6 pm in the lot east of the Museum and in the parking garage around the corner from the pay lot.
Tips for Your Visit
Museum Manners
Help us protect the art and ensure an enjoyable and safe visit for all. We appreciate your cooperation with these simple guidelines:
- Please walk and use respectful voices in the galleries.
- Look but don’t touch, oil from your fingers can damage the artwork.
- No food, drink, or gum is permitted in the galleries.
- Pencils only please (no pens).
- Check backpacks, large bags, and umbrellas at the welcome desk. Groups are encouraged to leave large bags at home, school, or on the bus.

Photography
While at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts, you may be photographed, filmed, and/or otherwise recorded by our staff photographer. Please let the photographer know if you do not give your consent.
Photographs taken by visitors may be used for personal, non-commercial use only and may not be distributed. No flash photography is permitted—intense light damages the artwork. No tripods or large camera bags are permitted in galleries, bulky equipment may damage objects.
Photoshoot scheduling is currently on pause until further notice.
Commercial photography, portrait sessions, and bridal or engagement shoots require scheduling and fees through our events rental department, events@umfa.utah.edu or call 801.581.5643.
No video recording is permitted in the Museum. Photography is not permitted for objects or galleries identified with a "No Photography" symbol. You can request image reproductions of objects from the permanent collection here.

Group Tours
The UMFA offers educator- and docent-guided tours and programs. Due to limited availability, these tours are offered on a first-come, first-served basis; we kindly ask for two weeks' advance notice in scheduling a tour. Schedule a group tour for adults here. Coat Check and Lockers
Free coat check and lockers are available. Backpacks, large bags, and umbrellas must be checked at the welcome desk or placed in lockers.
Restrooms
Single gender-neutral restrooms are located on the first floor by the temporary exhibitions gallery and on the second floor adjacent to the modern and contemporary gallery.
Changing Stations
Changing stations are located on the first floor in the restroom near The Museum Café and the restroom by the ACME Lab, and on the second floor in the restroom near the modern and contemporary gallery.
