Looking for a new creative outlet? Join the Utah Museum of Fine Arts at the Gittins Gallery to create something useful and fashionable. Learn the history of weaving traditions from different cultures and create your own woven cowl! Textile arts are an incredible art form with a storied history stretching from prehistoric humans to contemporary artists today.

The Utah Museum of Fine Art's very own Virginia Catherall will lead a weaving workshop at the Gittins Gallery in partnership with the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Utah. In this workshop, Virginia Catherall will guide you through the history of weaving and textile art with examples from the UMFA educational collection; you'll create your own loom out of recycled cardboard and weave your own stylish cowl! You'll come away from this workshop with new tools, new knowledge, and a stylish new accessory!

While you're there, explore the Gittins Gallery, which has been temporarily transformed into a community art and exhibition space called HAPPY TO SEE YOU: Art, Love & Resistance.
