When is the exhibition?

August 26, 2017–January 28, 2018

Is it free for my group or organization to participate?

Yes. In addition, admission to all UMFA galleries, except ticketed exhibitions, is free for groups reserving the ACME Lab for a CREATIVE ACTION. Regular Museum admission applies for visitors experiencing HERE, HERE.

How do I sign up for a CREATIVE ACTION?

Contact the ACME Lab team to schedule your CREATIVE ACTION. We’ll contact you within one business week to confirm a date, time, and any special needs or concerns. We’ll do our best to accommodate you and your idea.

Is there anything that is not allowed in the ACME Lab?

We invite you to be creative, artistic, and try something new. Any activity that affects the safety of others (mental, physical, or emotional) is not allowed.

Can we request the on-going photography be turned off?

Yes. We will accommodate your request for privacy during your CREATIVE ACTION (prayer services, etc.).

Is there a minimum number of participants that constitute a group in order to reserve the ACME Lab?

No, you can reserve the space for a party of one. You might wish to hold a meditation practice or manipulate the sculptural objects in a particular way all by yourself.

Is there a maximum number of participants for the CREATIVE ACTION?

Yes, The ACME Lab accommodates up to 46 people.

Is this exhibition only for kids?

The exhibition is for all ages, all abilities.

Is this exhibition appropriate for toddlers and young children?

Yes, but all participants play at their own risk. Please be respectful of the space—don’t throw or put your mouth on any of the objects.

Is the exhibition supervised?

UMFA Security will be monitoring HERE, HERE. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Can I publicize a meet-up?   

Yes, contact the ACME Lab team for more details.

Can I reserve the Lab more than once?

Yes. We will try to accommodate all requests but would like as many groups as possible to experience HERE, HERE.

Is the lab open to the public while I host my action?

We encourage you to open your action to the public, especially during regular Museum hours. However, if it is necessary for your action to be private, you may request to have the space closed to visitors.

What about folks with special needs?

This exhibition is open to participants of all abilities. The exhibition comprises many movable parts and we will work to ensure the space is always accessible. If you have special mobility concerns, feel free to reach out to us in advance or at the time of your arrival.

Can we have food or drinks in the Lab?

Sorry, no food or drinks are permitted as a safeguard for all artworks in the Museum. The Museum Café is open (check our website for hours) and feel free to use the patio area adjacent to the café. Special accommodations for food and drink in another area of the Museum will be made in advance on a case-by-case basis.   

Can I bring my dog or pet rat?

Sorry, our animal friends are not permitted in the museum. Service animals are always welcome.

Can I host a talent show?

Absolutely!

Can I host my child’s birthday party in the ACME Lab?

Of course! The UMFA will not plan or provide the activities and candles are not allowed. Special accommodations for food and cake in another area of the Museum must be made ahead of time.

Can I have a fundraiser or sell things in the space?

Sorry, creative currency only.  Participants or hosts can’t charge admission or sell things in the space.
