Have you ever had a story that you just had to tell someone? In this workshop, participants will learn how to tell their own stories, from the boring to the mind-blowing, through the medium of four-panel diary comics. Participants will learn basic comic terminology and structure, and how to parse their daily activities into interesting stories. This workshop is designed for beginning illustrators as well as seasoned cartoonists— everyone will come away with new skills and empowered to tell their own stories.

Join us again in May for a fearless abstract painting with Samantha da Silva!

Ricky Vigil

Ricky Vigil is an illustrator and educator from Salt Lake City. He has been making the autobiographical comic zine Super Cool and Stuff since 2011. His work combines the goofiness of Saturday morning cartoons with the mundanity of daily life, filtered through the lens of punk rock and DIY culture. His work has been featured in SLUG Magazine, Razorcake, and City Weekly, and he has created merch designs for bands such as Murder By Death, The Slackers, and Wicked Bears. As an educator, Ricky is dedicated to helping young people try new things and learn how to tell their own stories through the mediums of comics, podcasting and filmmaking. If Ricky can make art, he thinks you can too!
