Samantha da Silva

Samantha da Silva (1978) is a Brazilian-born artist based in Salt Lake City, UT. A third-generation artist, she has moved over forty times due to natural disasters and life changes, shaping her artistic journey. At age 10, she experienced a pivotal assimilation process that transformed her relationship with her surroundings.

Her large-scale relief sculptures, resembling topographic maps and cracked earth, utilize found materials like dirt and sawdust, exploring themes of belonging, spirituality, mapmaking, and resourcefulness.

As an educator, da Silva has taught across Canada, the U.S., Hawaii, and France. Her work has been featured in Architectural Digest, Bravo TV, HGTV, and more.
